Is it too late to wish you all a happy new year? I’ve had a bit of time off but come back ready and refreshed for a new year ahead of me. Judging by my inbox 2011 is going to be a busy one so let me wish you all a Happy New Year and very special hello and thank you to all of those who I’ll work with this year. I’m really looking forward to it.
So then, to kick things off for 2011 here is a real wedding for you all to feast your eyes on. By the way – I need to clarify something. Recently I’ve been asked why do I call these posts ‘Real Weddings’. Well, it’s because they are exactly that. Real weddings, not photoshoots or any other such thing. So what you’re seeing is a snippet from someone’s very special day.
This real wedding is that of Karen and Dan who tied the knot back at the end of October last year. They got married in Mallow, Co Cork and had a lovely reception at the Springfort Hall County House just a few miles away.
The day began though with a big feed of sandwiches (which I seemed to have been offered on a pretty mum constant basis) and tea at Karen’s parents home. The house was busy with friends dropping by, a visit from the priest and mum and dad doing their best to keep three excited girls as calm as possible. They done well.
As Karen got into the car with her father to head to the church the sun was shining but big grey clouds were gathering above. It looked ominous to say the least and after the ceremony our fears were realised as the rain came down hard. Still, it didn’t seem to matter one bit to Karen and Dan as you couldn’t lift the smiles from their faces. They just shrugged it off and got on with it.
Later back at Springfort Hall the rain stopped for a few minutes; so we all jumped into action and managed to get the family photographs and some portraits done outside. I gave Karen my little vintage camera to play with and we got some lovely shots before the rain forced us back inside to the warmth of the fire.
The whole day seemed to go so quick – sign of a good wedding in my book. It wasn’t long before Spring Break (I’m not stalking these guys I swear it) had set-up their equipment began to fill the dancefloor as only they can.
I want to thank Karen and Dan for a lovely day and being so easy to photograph. You guys made it all so easy and I can’t wait to meet up again. Thanks!
Here’s what Karen and Dan had to say
I cannot reccommend Dave highly enough. He was 100% professional but relaxed and unobtrusive and captured the day brilliantly from start to finish. We love the finished books.
