I love to shoot a wedding at The Millhouse so I was looking forward to photographing Nigel and Carol’s wedding for a long time.
I’m not sure what it is about The Millhouse. Maybe it’s rustic charm or it’s homely approach to weddings but it definitely seems to attract very relaxed and chilled out couples. I’ve been seeing this pattern for years and it’s confirmed to me every time I return. Nigel and Carol definitely stayed true to form. Two more easy going couples you’d be hard pressed to find.
What I loved especially about this day was the feeling of sheer happiness in the air. You could see it on the faces of everyone involved. You could hear it in their voices as they sang songs together during the ceremony in the old mill. You could see it in the squeezes the gave each other time and time again. Sheer joy.
I had asked Nigel what he hoped his wedding day would bring. His response was simple and very real – “It’s a cliche but it’s simple… having everyone we like in the one place at the one time. It never, ever happens.” How true and you could tell that they were going to milk that for all it was worth.
This was such a great wedding to be part of and I’m glad that I got one of those great big squeezes as I left The Millhouse that night.
