It’s tradition at this time of year for photographers to put together a post that showcases their work for the past year, a “best of”, a kind of “year in review”, if you will. I have had discussions with good photographer friends of mine to ask – why bother? – what’s the reason for creating a “best of” post? – who’s it for? My answer to that was that it’s mainly for me, mainly for Dee and I and also for my couples. Just the other day when I had this discussion I went back and looked at my 2012 and 2013 posts and it was actually great to look back on. It’s like looking through an old family album – nice to reminisce and remind yourself of all the opportunities you’ve had, the people you’ve met, the places you’ve been and things you’ve seen.
So rather than call this a “best of”, I’m calling this…. well, I don’t know what I’m calling it. All I know is that what you’re about to see is a collection of my favourite moments of the year both personally and professionally. Dee and I have had quite honestly the best year ever. We got married, got to travel across America on Route 66 on our honeymoon, I’ve shot two weddings in New York, one which has still to be blogged but you’ll have a few sneak peaks in this post – I got to shoot another wedding in England, and of course here in Ireland I was able to photograph so many beautiful weddings for some of the most fantastic couples I’ve ever had. Truly blessed.
So this blog is a tip of the cap to all of that – full of moments. Photographs that will forever remind me of a moment that made me laugh, made someone else laugh, gave me goosebumps, made me emotional, made my heart beat faster or made me want to give myself a high five – but most of all to remind me of an awesome moment that I’ll never forget.
Before I finish up – I need to give a huge thank you and bear hug to all of you who’ve shared this year with us and made it so utterly special from start to finish. You all know who you are and each and every one of you rock my socks off.
Now. On with the show.
