Carla Rose and Keith in Borgo Di Tragliata

Carla Rose is one of those people you just can’t forget. She’s got this super fun, bubbly personality that lights up a room, and it’s infectious—in the best way possible. As an incredible hair stylist and the driving force behind The Space, she’s made her mark in the industry, and anyone who’s met her knows she’s as warm and genuine as they come. I first met her years ago at a wedding, and even back then, she said, “Dave, when I get married, you’re taking the pictures.” I thought she was just being kind, as I’m sure she’s met countless photographers in her line of work. But here I am, and true to her word, she chose me. With so many talented photographers crossing her path, being her choice was genuinely humbling. Then there’s Keith, who is the perfect match for Carla Rose in every way. He’s got this steady, calming presence. Cool, calm, and collected with a big, welcoming smile and a great sense of humour that instantly puts everyone at ease. As a boxing coach, Keith has this quiet strength and focus that grounds everyone around him. A brilliant pair that make everyone around them feel at home and welcomed.

Fast forward to a Zoom call with Carla Rose and Keith about a year before the wedding, and they were just bursting with excitement. There was this perfect mix of nerves and joy. The kind of energy you know will make the wedding day special, not just for them, but for everyone around them. And let me tell you, when a bride and groom are having the time of their lives, it’s infectious and everyone feels it.

The venue. My god, the venue. Borgo Di Tragliata, just outside Rome. This place is like stepping into an old-world Italian dream. If you’ve ever imagined a scene from The Godfather, with all the romance and charm, that’s exactly what this place feels like. During the day, it’s all poolside vibes, cocktails, and sun umbrellas under the scorching July sun. But come evening, it transforms into the ultimate party spot. There were fireworks, sparklers, festoon lighting, and outdoor dancing. Not to mention the sheer amount of food. Trust me, no one went hungry that day. It’s not just a paradise for photographers, it’s a dream venue for anyone lucky enough to be a guest.

It was awesome for me to shoot with wedding alongside good friend and one of the best wedding videographers in the land, Rodolphe of Best Day Productions. This guy handled the heat way better than I did. Fun fact, the night we arrived, it was 38 degrees. Roasting. We walked in the room we were to share. He turns off the air con and later I look across and there he wrapped up in two blankets, one of which is woolen! He’s just made different. haha

Capturing Carla Rose and Keith’s day was an absolute joy and honour, and honestly, it’s the kind of wedding that reminds me why I love what I do. I hope I get to shoot at Borgo Di Tragliata again someday. Anyone? Anyone?

Oh, I should mention some amazing vendors who played a big part in the day.
