This is my first wedding of the season so it was great to be back in action last Saturday at Fiona and Diarmuid wedding – and what a way to start off the year again. All day we’d look at each other in disbelief and say “can you believe the day we got?” The sun was splitting the stones. Sure, there was a bit of a breeze in the air (more the odd gust) but for an early March wedding we were truly blessed.
The morning started bright and early with the guys going for their morning dip in the sea by diving off the 40ft in Dun Laoghaire. Diarmuid dives with pure style too. I’ve never seen a dive like it (not in the flesh anyway). Pure gutsy. When I grow up I want to be able to do that one day.
The rest of the morning was spent with Fiona at her parents home just a few minutes away. It was a great morning as I had so much time to just take things nice and easy and all too often found myself having great chats with her parents and the bridesmaids between scoffing of coffee and pancakes served up by Fiona’s dad.
After the ceremony we went to Sandymount beach for a few photos and I loved how Fiona and Diarmuid were up for anything – especially standing between two shipping containers while about 20 people stood behind me, watched on and probably thought “why would he put them in there now when there is a big beach just right there.” Takes all sorts I guess 🙂
The reception took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Dublin where guests had a great time relaxing in the sun all afternoon before a night of speeches, great food, hilarious props and full on dancing. Oh, and a Chinese Dragon dance.
Fiona and Diarmuid – thank you so much for allowing me to share your day on my blog and I hope these bring back some wonderful memories for you both 🙂
