This was the brilliant wedding of Kathryn and Patrick. Two brilliant people who are a joy to be around and an even bigger joy to photograph. Good looking, big smiles, great personalities and unreal patience. It doesn’t get any easier really.
From the moment I stepped through Kathryn’s parents front door that morning I was made feel so incredibly welcome. The atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone was smiling, chatting and laughing. There were tears too (happy tears), when Kathryn gave her father a gift – even though I’d only been in the house a few minutes it had me welling up behind the lens. I’m so glad I was in that exact spot to capture that moment. The house that morning had lots of people including two very cute but so well behaved little kids and yet the house was so calm. Even come the time for Kathryn to put on her dress, there was no mad panics or last minute nerves. Everything was gentle.
Gentle and calm really sums up the whole day though. These two are relaxed. When we got to Barberstown Castle for the reception and went off to take the portrait photos, Kathryn and Patrick gave me so much of their time. Near the end of that session we found a lovely spot inside a big weeping willow tree. There was a table and chairs there. As Patrick and I went off to get the bridal party to join us, Kathryn said “I’ll just stay here, it’s very relaxing” and when we returned in a few minutes there she was with a big smile on her face with not a worry or care in the world.
Fast forward 5 hours. The band started. There was no more gentle.
Thank you so much Kathryn and Patrick for having me with you. It was such a pleasure.
