Photographing Families. I do this now.
It’s an honour to be asked to photograph anyone – but when a talented and successful photographer like Nick O’Keeffe reaches out and asks you if you’d be interested in photographing himself and his two daughters Isobelle and Holly, then it really is an honour beyond words. Aside from jumping at the chance the only thing I asked is that I photographed them in their own natural environment – just hanging out, doing whatever is they had planned to do on that particular day. It so happens that the day we choose turned out to be a beautiful one, the sun was shining and the girls were full of the joys of summer with plenty to keep them busy in their grandparents back garden. A sand pit, swings, chickens to throw food at, horses to timidly hold out grass too, cows to be wary off, hills to climb and fox holes to peer down into it. There was no shortage of things to see and explore that’s for sure and with sugar highs and sugar lows we saw every emotion of the day – and that was just Nick.
