A few years ago I shot the wedding of Blathnaid and Nick. Two people so lovely both inside and out, I wish I lived next door to them and became their best friend. I envisaged casual drop in’s, weekend bbq’s, our kids playing with their kids (not that we have kids, yet, but they do and I like that they’ve taken the first step – that shows true friendship) and over the years our respective fridges becoming packed full of images of amazing moments we’d have together between now and forever more. Ah, those guys. Good times.
So, back to reality, when Blathnaid got in touch to tell me that her good friends Barbara and Barry were getting married and she’d passed on my name, I was over the moon because it would mean that firstly, I’d more than likely get to hang out with Bla and Nick again and secondly, because nice people usually have nice friends, so my hopes were high for this one.
Then the whammy. The wedding was to be in Portugal, in the little town of Cascais, and Barbara and Barry wanted me there. I could have kissed, well, everybody. If you were within my vicinity that day, there’s a good chance you were. Sorry about that – no-one likes sloppy seconds.
So, fast forward a few months and there I am, in Cascais (a place that I still cannot pronounce without making a complete fool of myself) photographing two beautiful people, their amazing friends (I’m looking at you especially Bla and Nick x) and their super lovely families in the most unbelievable location. Wait until you see the venue. Life is good and I’m so thankful.
Barbara and Barry – thank you. Thank you so much. This was a real career highlight for me and I can’t tell you what a great time I had with you both. It was special beyond words, any words that I can muster anyway. Enjoy the blog you gorgeous pair.
